Sunny Cornwall!
Hi again Mark - it's a bit lonely here with just the two of us, isn't it?

I've had a good old look around your website http://www.north-cornwall.co.uk I'm going to direct my In-Laws there as they are frequent visitors to that particular neck of the woods.

Still looking for that elusive alternative to the Google Custom Search bar. I don't have to get paid for it - and I sure-as-hell don't want to pay anything for it either! It would just be a useful addition to my website.

Regards to all,

Danny

On the other hand if it's too cheap, it's likely to attract the old 'it's-so-cheap-it's-bound-to-be-a-load-of-rubbish' type comments. I'm going to start to advertise it on my website - http://www.BuyToLetToolkit.com - although I have to stress that I haven't finished it yet. I just want to get a feel for how well it'll be received. I tell you what though Mark - it's going to be really good!

> > > >
> > > > Coming up as number one out of over a quarter of a million websites is pretty cool! It's just a shame that no one is EVER likely to tap in 'Buy To Let Toolkit' to their Search Engine, as they investigate ways to make money from property. Ah well.
> > > >
> > > > The good news is though that the eBook is coming on really well. I'm a writer anyway, and although it's still in it's first draft, it's still something I'm actually quite proud of and really excited about!
> > > >
> > > > I checked out the Web CEO toolkit (being a fan of Toolkits!) but their software doesn't work on a Power PC Mac, so I'll have to confiscate a Windows laptop off one of my kids and use that. The AdWords thing was an eye-opener! There were 145,000,000 searches for 'mortgages' in March alone according to Google, and some of my other keywords were pretty high scorers too (24,900,000 for 'rent', 3,350,000 for 'rental property, and so on).
> > > >
> > > > The thing is, I am STILL getting hits on my website, and I've paused my AdWords campaign! People are coming to see my website from somewhere - and I'm not paying for the privilege. I expect I'll rejuvenate the Adwords thing when the eBook is launched, but not now. I'm experimenting right now - I want to seee if this can work without lining Google's pockets.
> > > >
> > > > BTW - the eBook will be around 150 A4 pages if you were to print it out. So what is a good starting price? Ajay says some eBooks go for £50, but I've never seen one. Would you go into Waterstones or WH Smith and spend £50 on ONE book? neither would I. Much as I've enjoyed Ajay's book (to the point where I've invested money in my http://www.BuyToLetToolkit.com website) I wouldn't have paid £50 for it. I haven't spent that much on one book since University!
> > > >
> > > > It's moving along still, gradually. I still think some of Ajay's claims are somewhat fanciful - a website up and running and getting traffic within hours being one, £££ per month from AdSense being another - but I get the gist. I get the concept. And that's enough for me!

I get a fair few offers of links from other websites - none of whom seem to have any idea of what the Buy To Let Toolkit is about - and I'm not really sure what to do with the information (a banner in html) they give me anyway, let alone how I'm supposed to benefit from it.

> > > > > >
> > > > > > I've come to a conclusion - if AdSense are only talking about pennies per day, and delete any account that might stand a chance of making pounds instead, then nuts to 'em. I'll do it without their 'help'. I suppose that means I'll have to find another Search Box provider in future, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. But for now - I don't need their Ads.
> > > > > >
> > > > > > If you type 'Buy To let Toolkit' into google, my website is on the first page! However given that no-one would ever search for 'Buy To Let Toolkit', that's doesn't exactly help. If you search for 'Buy To Let', 'property investment', 'landlord toolkit' or anything else that's related to my website, I'm nowhere to be seen. Darn.

> > > > > > > >
> > > > > > > > And Mark, I suspect Ajay may have used a little poetic licence in his book. I mean, how can he have a website up and running within hours? The URL has to register first - that's 48 hours - then you have to register your sitemap with Google and everyone else, wait for the robots to give you the once-over, that kind of thing. It all takes time.
> > > > > > > >
> > > > > > > > I see there's a new range of books out now - Make Money from the Internet in 12 Months! - which for the beginner, sounds like a better, more realistic expectation.
> > > > > > > >
> > > > > > > > I've also come to the conclusion that Google are the Highwaymen of the 21st Century. I registered with AdWords and put my bid at £1 as a starting point. Google 'mistakenly' thought I put £10 (it's odd how 'mistakes' are usually in their favour...) which ate my funds within 24 hours. AdSense, realising that people are visiting my website and are clicking the Ads, have decided to delete my account (and I guaran-damn-tee absolutely NO click-fiddling on my part). In both of these instances you have NO redress to Google - just the FAQ section.
